Commonly known as the Angler, Lophius piscatorius is a monkfish in the Lophiidae family. It is found in the northeast Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea.
This was the first angler I have seen at this site, among only a handful on the Swedish west coast. It was sitting on a rock in an area we normally see a lot of crab and lobster.
Lately we have also seen schools of pelagic fish, like Saithe (Pollachius virens) and Pollack (Pollachius pollachius) here. And Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua), which is specially nice to see.
