Can you see the ray? Raja clavata trusting its camouflage. This one didn’t mind me at all. I always feel privileged when I can approach a wild animal, take pictures of it, and move on without disturbing it. And hopefully without even stressing it. This individual had its eyes closed all through my little visit. A series of images like this takes approximately a minute or two. This is the first time I have seen one apparently asleep. Usually their have their eyes open, with the characteristic eyelid clearly visible.
